Jan and Gedda have been married for 35 years. Gedda loves her husband Jan so much that he gets a bit sick of it since it seems that she sees marriage as a form of assisted living – and she decides everything. In an effort to get some more space, Jan takes such odd steps that his marriage turns into a closed subject and the question arises: how much love is too much love?
De Beentjes van Sint Hildegard
Jan gets cuddled every day by his wife Gedda in their 35-year-old marriage. If he wants to take a glass off the table, she is there already to pick it up for him. Gedda also determines their daily schedule, their diet, holiday destinations – and she knows better than Jan what’s good for him. As a Health Sciences Professor at the University of Twente that is precisely what Gedda teaches her students: men live longer, healthier and happier lives when they are under the strong and moderating influence of a woman. Meanwhile Jan can’t seem to find space for himself in their relationship.
