The docufiction Figli di Destino tells the story of four Italian Jewish children who could no longer go to school after the Racial Laws were enforced. This programme shows what it meant for tens of thousands of people to discover from one day to the next that their identity had been enshrined in law as a sin.
Figli Del Destino
September 2018 marks the anniversary of the signing of the Racial Laws, the set of legislative and administrative measures introduced by the Fascist regime and signed by Vittorio Emanuele III in 1938. It was the beginning of the systematic discrimination against Italian Jews in the social and political life of the country and was the prelude to the tragic finale of their mass deportation to concentration camps. To commemorate this historical event, the docufiction Figli di Destino tells the story of four Italian Jewish children who could no longer go to school after the Racial Laws were enforced. This programme shows what it meant for tens of thousands of people to discover from one day to the next that their identity had been enshrined in law as a sin.
