The Wild West in the mid-18th century: Apache Chief Abahachi and his blood brother Ranger are responsible for maintaining peace and justice. But problems start to occur when Abahachi takes out a loan with the Shoshone to finance a new local pub…

Der Schuh des Manitu

Somewhere in the Wild West in the mid-18th century is the land of the Shoshone, a tribe that lives together harmoniously. However, dark clouds are gathering on the horizon! Chief Abahachi and Ranger (blood brothers from the South) must tell the Shoshone chief “Merry Newt”, erm, “Merry Amphibian”, erm, no, “Cunning Amphibian” the sad news about the death of his son, “Fake Hare.” They are soon accused of murder and are bound to a stake as assassins. Cunning Amphibian also accuses the criminals of stealing his gold, and he demands it be given back. Abahachi desperately tries to explain… he and Ranger were planning to use the borrowed Shoshone gold to buy and set up a local Apache pub from Santa Maria, a real estate agent in Wyoming. Whilst the deal was being made with Santa Maria, the duo soon discovered that they had been deceived – and things came to a deadly head. In the process, Santa Maria shot the Shoshone chief's son in the back, in cold blood. The pair took shelter behind the saloon door and discussed the unfortunate situation they’d found themselves in. Finally, as their nerves and the sound of ammunition came to an end, they realized the scoundrels had already gotten away. All that remained was the chief’s dead son. In short: The man that betrayed Abahachi’s people also murdered Fake Hare – and here’s the rub! – the same man also stole the Shoshone gold! Annoyingly, Santa Maria suddenly appears at Cunning Amphibian’s side, he is one of his friends. No wonder, then, that Abahachi and his blood brother are to be sent to the eternal hunting grounds at dawn. An Apache in a pickle! Ranger is livid, and no number of apologies from Abahachi will help the situation. Finally, he decides that he has had enough. Sixteen years, and it has always been the same! Pointless sneaking around, hours spent tracking, futile riding side by side, and ending up tied up somewhere every other day. He has had enough! But when the sun starts to rise, he has a change of heart. Mainly because Abahachi suddenly remembers some hidden treasure, which the pair could use to buy their freedom. The only thing is, the Apache chief, who was taught to share by his grandfather “Grey Star” from a young age, tore the treasure map into quarters and drunkenly thrust the pieces into the hands of random passers-by. And Abahachi can only remember one of the four pieces.
