Lucious gathers his children to announce he’s made his decision about who should run Empire, and then reveals shocking video evidence concerning a family member. Anika counsels Hakeem to get him what he wants, while Cookie is faced with an offer from the FBI. At a press conference for the tribute concert, an outspoken Empire artist creates a stir and Lucious has an opportunity to defend Jamal. With Andre feeling as if he’s lost everything, he throws in his lot with Hakeem in a bid for power, and an unlikely band of conspirators is formed. To defend himself against a homophobic rapper, Jamal takes to the stage in a freestyle rap battle. An infamous corporate raider offers a plan to Cookie, who realizes the fate of Empire could be in her hands. When Vernon confronts Andre, violence ensues, and Rhonda arrives just in time to intervene with some surprising news of her own. During the epic tribute concert, Lucious’ past catches up with him, but he vows his vengeance.
