Aga is a struggling rock singer who returns to his hometown of Hengchun to be a postman. When his stepfather campaigns for founding a local band, Aga has a chance of a performance with a band composed of all locals, including an old post officer who plays yueqin, a motorcycle mechanic, a church choir pianist, a millet wine producer and a father-son duo of police officers.

In the 1940s, the Japanese are retreating from Taiwan upon the Retrocession of Taiwan. A Japanese teacher is forced to board a ship by himself, leaving Taiwan and his love interest whose Japanese name is Kojima Tomoko. As he has failed to confess his love for her in person, he writes seven love letters for her that will not be delivered until much later.
Over sixty years later, Aga returns to his hometown of Hengchun after having failed to become a rock band singer in Taipei. With his stepfather’s connection, Aga starts temping as a post officer. Meanwhile, Tomoko is a Japanese model who has lost her popularity. For some reason, she is forced to stay in Hengchun and becomes a PR person handling the organization of concerts. In order to get Aga a rare opportunity of performance, his stepfather campaigns for founding a local band by selecting band members from the local residents.
Lo and behold! A jaw-dropping and eye-opening band is founded with a motley crew of seemingly un-extraordinary small town residents.
