Anita (Director’s Cut)

As a child performer, Anita Mui started singing on stage in an amusement park with her elder sister Ann through her teenage years. Her performance caught the eye of Michael Lai, who invited her to compete in the first New Talent Singing Awards. Capital Artists signed Anita immediately after the contest and supported her with the best resources possible to compete at the upcoming Tokyo Music Festival. Soon after, she was invited by director Stanley Kwan to play the lead role in the drama "Rouge." At the height of her career in the early 90s, Anita began a relationship with martial arts actor Ben. Realizing there are more important things in life she should pursue, she decidedly ended the relationship. Just when she had found the purpose in life, her worst nightmare came on the door. Not long after Ann passed away of cancer, Anita was diagnosed with the same disease. In 2003, the SARS outbreak struck Hong Kong. Adding to the heavy blow is the sudden loss of Leslie Cheung.
