Murder in the land of the Cathars

At the opening of an exhibition on the Inquisition in a famous Cathar castle, visitors are shocked to discover the mutilated body of a young woman in a torture cage. A young man with Down’s syndrome is found on the crime scene and becomes the prime suspect. Everything seems to point to his guilt. Since Lieutenant Gendarme Pauline Franchet is the suspect’s sister, she is immediately taken off the case and replaced by the captain of the investigative department of the Montpellier gendarmerie, Thomas Costella. But Pauline continues to fight tirelessly to protect her brother and clear his name. Her battle will have consequences, both for her and for the people around her...
