Four men in disguise, armed with harpoons, run through the old town of Leer and scare everything that gets in their way – women especially are targeted by the "Blue Jans". Four men in disguise, armed with harpoons, run through the old town of Leer and scare everything that gets in their way – women especially are targeted by the "Blue Jans". A popular, old custom among the locals, which - according to city marketing manager Elke Heseding - could be turned into something much bigger, more colorful and more commercial. But this year, "Blue Jan" is falling into disrepute. During the hullabaloo at the town hall, Gesa Dieken, the town's women's representative, is killed with a whaler's harpoon. The suspicion that one of the four masked "Blue Jans" is involved in the murder is only natural - especially since Gesa Dieken wanted to abolish what she saw as a misogynistic custom. The fact that new colleague Henk Cassens, of all people, is one of this year's "Blue Jans" does not cause any enthusiasm either among his police partner Süher Özlügül or Inspector Jan Brockhorst. But pharmacist Insa Scherzinger does her best to appease Brockhorst. After all, Insa wants to put her self-taught forensic knowledge to the test and examine the corpse that has been temporarily stored with mortician Wolfgang Habedank. And Henk and Süher also begin to investigate behind Commissioner Brockhorst's back.
